Cock cages can be a minefield to explore if you have no idea what you’re looking at or what you need to suit your desires. I wanted to create something that will help those of you in the deep end about cock cages and give you an insight into this wonderful world, one that’s clear, easy-to-understand, and one that will leave you feeling filled with chastity knowledge and expertise and even if you have some understanding of these kinds of sex accessories this article will give you everything you need to get exactly what you need.
The Anatomy Of A Cage
Firstly, let me explain the anatomy of a cock cage, explaining what goes where and how it all works.
The Ring: The ring goes on first and is the anchor for the cage. It goes behind your cock and balls and the cage is then connected to it. This holds everything in place.
The Cage/Tube: This is the part that your shaft goes into.
The Padlock: This is secured around the cage and the ring and clipped into place to ensure the cage stays shut. However, some cages don’t come with a padlock and instead have their own locking mechanism.
This is the simple anatomy of a cock cage, they can be made of plastic, silicone, or metal, they can come in two parts or as an entire unit but these three definitions will help you to understand what each part does and what it is referring to when you are doing your research.
Measuring Your Chastity Cage Size
It’s quite important to get your measurements right so that you can be sure of a comfortable experience, you don’t want to cause yourself pain or extreme discomfort and so measuring your chastity size is a great way to ensure a smooth ride. To do this is quite simple and you only need to do it once, however, to begin you are going to need a few things:
Measuring Tools:
- Thick String: It’s best to go for white string, to make it easier to mark, however so long as your dark marker shows up on the string it doesn’t really matter. You then need to use a ruler to mark the size using your marked string.
- Marked Cloth: You can also use cloth if you don’t have any string to hand, it’s not ideal, but if you have a bit of cloth, you can cut it into a long and thin strip and use it to measure against your ruler once you have marked your cock size on the cloth.
- Sizing Rings: These sizing rings are really useful if you’re spending a lot on a metal cage (usually a custom cage), you just relax and try them on, once you find the right fit, leave it on for a few hours, make sure it still feels right and then you have your exact measurments.
Why not use a flat measuring tape?
They can work, but I find they don’t give accurate measurements as there’s too much thickness to the tape and they are awkward to use. Some string or thin cloth is far better and way more accurate when you are measuring something like your cock.
The Cage/Tube Measurements:
For this, you just need the length of your penis. The cage/tube is the part of the device that you insert your flaccid cock into.
While standing upright, from the base of your flaccid shaft measure to the tip of your penis, you can use the ruler for this part if you need to. Take the measurements and do it a few times over the course of an hour, to make sure you’re not aroused or getting them wrong, and write down each measurement.
You can also do the same but from the base of your penis where your scrotum starts to the tip as some cage providers use these measurements.
Subtracting: Double-check with your cage provider but as a rule, you usually subtract 1/4″ from the measurement to ensure the cage will be a good and tight fit.
Once you’re done feel free to use my dildo comparison chart to see where you measure up!
The Ring Measurements:
You take the string from before, wrap it around the base of your penis and scrotum, behind the balls, mark it and that’s your measurement, do this a few times to make sure you’re 100% correct.
Most rings want a little give, so don’t tighten the string when measuring. You can even leave the string secured for around 20 minutes to make sure it doesn’t cause discomfort or cut off circulation.
If you mess up the ring measurement it usually doesn’t matter, products like the CB-x range give you a ring kit with different sizes so you know it will fit, all you have to worry about it is the length which is much easier to get right. That’s why I usually recommend them cages because you can find your ring size and then if you want a full metal cage you can then get a similar ring size.
Flaccid Cock Diameter
Using the string again, while your cock is completely flaccid, wrap the string around the thickest part of your penis shaft (usually from the middle) and take your measurements.
Ideal cages For Your Size:
All these cages come with ring sets to allow your shiny new cage to fit most ring sizes (plus you can try them all to see which kind of tightness you like the most).

3.25 inches flaccid (most common): Transparent so you can inspect your sad caged cock, designed for long-term wear and it comes with padlocks and a storage bag so you can tidy it away when you are finally released. If you want to read up more on this cage check out this article I did on my favorite chastity cages.

1.25 inches flaccid: Block your boner with this pretty in pink cock cage that values comfort, discretion, and secure play. This cage even allows you to urinate whilst wearing it and comes with customizable rings and even locks.
Getting Erections Ruin Your Measurements
Every time you touch your cock you’re going to get a little hard, which throws off the measurements completely. Something that works is getting yourself off, maybe once, maybe twice, maybe even three times, then take the measurements, take them a few times while you’re doing a relaxing task, like watching tv or gaming. Try to relax and not think about anything whilst you’re measuring yourself up for your new toy.
Don’t Worry Too Much
You can be a little off and it won’t matter too much, especially if your cage comes with extra different-sized rings, which the ones I mentioned above do. Just try and be as accurate as you can without worrying and your cage will be perfect.
Double Check Your Cage Provider
Different cages have different ways of taking measurements. CB-X measures for example take from the base of the shaft to the tip of the penis others like mature metal say measure from under the base of the penis where the testicles meet to the tip and recommend taking the shortest of your measurements and subtracting 1/4″. Therefore if you aren’t using any cages that I link to in my article, double-check with them on how best to take your measurements.
How To Use And Put On a Cock Cage
Actually putting on a cock cage can seem like a daunting task but I am going to share with you the steps that you take to ensure smooth execution.
Lube Your Cock: First lube up your cock with your favorite lube, I usually use this one, remember don’t use silicone-based if you have a silicone cage as it can damage the materials. Lube is important as it ensures no snagging or pulling if your cage accidentally meets with some of the skin on your cock.
The Ring: Now there are two types of ‘ring’, some that you have to tuck yourself into or ones like the CB-6000, which has a three-quarter ring that looks like a C, that you don’t need to tuck into, you just take it to the base of your cock and balls and push it up, then make sure the opening is at the top of the cock, you then add the top part of the ring. This is really easy and one of the reasons I recommend the CB, but I also use the master series cages and they have a closed ring, so here’s how you put one of them on.
How To Put On Closed Metal/silicone Ring (Master Series): Metal is less forgiving, silicone usually has some stretchiness which makes it easier to squeeze everything in, it’s just like putting a silicone cock ring around your cock and balls. With the metal, I usually lube the ring, lube all of the cock and balls, and then push the balls in first, then the cock, but this is about doing what feels natural, some push the cock and then one ball at a time. If you follow the above your ring should be the right size and easy to get on and off
Apply more lube to your cock and cage: Just lube up your cock with a nice extra helping and the cage and slowly push yourself inside.
Add a Tag Lock: Then you just add a tag lock/padlock and you’re ready to go, I mention my favorite locks in this article.
How To Take The Chastity Cage Off: The cage is easy to take off, and the ring should be too, just go slow and use lube if needed.
Lube/Oil Throughout The Day: It’s a good idea to re-apply lube throughout the day, A small bottle of lube you take everywhere with you, and a cotton bud that you can use to apply drops of lube to hard-to-reach areas (such as the scrotum). You can never use too much lube.
Sit Down To Pee: If you have a perfectly fitting cock cage that aligns your cock and keeps it in the right position of the pee hole (if it has one) then you can pee standing up, but part of being a sub is learning to pee sitting down and the cage kind of forces you, unless you want to clean pee off from everywhere that you sprayed it.
Chastity Hygiene
Let’s talk about keeping clean.
A few chastity slaves feel shame and guilt in removing their cage for hygiene reasons and this is wrong, you owe it to yourself and your keyholder to keep your caged cock clean.
I encourage all my chastity slaves to clean regularly, it doesn’t break any rules, they still can’t masturbate, and they still have to be caged the second the cleaning is done but it is important to prevent odors and infections.
Most of the men I play with clean their cages every day and take a 5-minute cleaning break. They usually just remove the tube/cage part, wash it in hot water with soap, dry it off with a towel, and then take a quick shower to wash their cock and then reapply there, they then do a deep clean once per week, where they take off everything and ensure it’s all nice and scrubbed.
Some like to do a basic cleaning every day, without taking the cage off, this is easier with open cages, they just get in the shower with it on, and then use a cotton bud to clean hard-to-reach areas, I’m not a fan of this, and make sure all the men I play with follow the above.
No matter what your lock-up time/rules are I always recommend one real clean a few times per week and for those who only want to clean once per week, get a plastic handed cotton swab and make sure you use it in the shower on your cage, add water and soap on to the cotton swab, and go inside the openings of the cage, this will make your cage a lot nicer to take off when you finally do a deep clean.
Cleaning Advice
Always Remove The Lock: The lock can’t be washed unless it’s a plastic tag lock. Rinse it with clean water or a cleaning cloth, thoroughly dry it, and put it to one side.
Take all parts of your cage apart: Most cages have a few parts, I usually recommend taking all the parts apart and then washing each separately to ensure a thorough clean.
Cotton-bud and mild antiseptic/sex toy cleaner: Use this combo to get in the hard-to-reach areas, like the breathing openings in the CB cages.
Boiling Metal cages: For my metal cages I usually place them in boiling water for a few minutes, this helps to disinfect the entire device. Don’t do this for plastic or other materials as it will ruin them. I only do this occasionally, not daily or even weekly, just when I think it needs a full clean. The only issue with this is that it takes ages for stainless steel to cool.
Dry Your Cage Properly: Use a hairdryer on a low setting, keep it far away, or a towel to dry the cage and leave it to dry properly.
Wash Your cage: Then wash yourself, trim your pubic hair as hair can get in the way of the cage, and even get caught on it which can be painful.
Cleaning After Urination: Some give their cage a rinse out after urination, it takes a second and can be good because any urine that’s left can cause irritation and smells.
If you hate being without chastity you can always have another cage ready to wear for when you need to clean your main one, wear it only while you are giving your cage a deep clean.
